COCK AND BULL FESTIVAL FROM A MINDFUL VIEW
August 2, 2016
Last weekend we were lucky enough to be invited to the Cock and Bull Festival run by Jamie’s Farm. Jamie’s Farm is a charity, which aims to ‘re-engage children with educational life’, based in Wiltshire and Hereford Farms. Involving children with these farm projects has shown improved behaviour. The festival is run by Jamie’s Farm to help increase their work to provide for vulnerable children in urban schools.
Mindful Music has similar goals to this, we use music to improve focus and wellbeing in school children. We ran drumming circles throughout the weekend using a variety of drums including our eco drums! These were food buckets donated by Twickenham stadium and Mission Burrito, which we cleaned out and then decorated with the children at the festival. We had some beautiful creations.
Everyone who came to see us seemed to love our drums so thank you so much if you did come and say hello and we are looking forward to hearing from you again! There were a lot of creative visitors, especially the children.
We made our base in the wonderful blue and white tent, which we discovered had great acoustics. Drums all set up we had many visitors who came to bang the drums, decorate, chat about our program and one even just wanted a nap, which was more than welcomed.
The festival overall was also a fantastic experience; we enjoyed delicious food, Flo the goat’s company and a great variety of music. The small community feel was brilliant it was extremely family friendly. Both nights we sat around the campfire listened to the acoustic tent, spent some time in the sofa area and also had a bit of a dance to the music.
There was something there for everyone! A highlight of the weekend for me was watching the Farmers Olympics from afar, especially when the egg catching was going on. Thank you Cock and Bull for a brilliant weekend! You can see more pictures from us here!
